OHSAA SHIRT REGULATIONS
Good
morning, everyone.
As you
know, USSF has recently adopted a newly designed shirt with broader stripes.
I spoke
today with OHSAA Assistant Commissioner, Henry Zaborniak, who is Supervisor of
Officials.
This is OHSAA's position:
1.) The
gold shirt is still the primary shirt, with the red and black shirts as the
ONLY approved alternate shirts. There is no order of preference for
red or black if an alternate shirt must be worn due to color conflict with
either or both teams.
2.)
Officials need NOT buy the blue or
the green shirts. They are NOT
recognized by OHSAA as approved alternate shirts.
3.)
Because the primary shirt supplier, Official Sports International, no longer
makes the pinstriped shirt, only the new, more broadly striped shirt will be
available for purchase.
4.)
Officials who wear either the old, pinstriped shirt or the new, broadly striped
shirt, will be considered in proper uniform. There is no need for officials to
purchase the new, broadly striped shirts, UNLESS THEY CHOOSE TO DO SO. Bottom
line, buy the new, broadly striped shirts if you wish,
but you are not required to do so.
5.)
Officiating crews consisting of a mixture of pinstripes and broad stripes will
be considered properly uniformed. CREWS' SHIRTS NEED NOT BE ALL PINSTRIPES OR
ALL BROAD STRIPES.
We
sincerely hope that this resolves any ambiguity occasioned by USSF's recent
adoption of the broadly-striped shirt and the green alternate shirt.
